Davy sings lead on both of today’s Monkees’ selections. Today’s hit is I Wanna Be Free; the lesser known is Early Morning Blues and Greens. The latter, also from Headquarters, is a quiet song about the sad morning after a breakup in which inertia and helplessness take hold. It has some lovely, detailed imagery in it, including my favorite line about “cold bare feet on hardwood floor.” The lyrics paint an impressively sharp, clear picture and it would be nice to hear more songs this well-written.

Oh you little devil, were you waiting for a blue sky day like this so you could match the color of the letters/numbers?
You give me too much credit! 🙂 The letters and numbers are blown out but Lima’s too far away to go back to frequently for reshoots.
As you mention it though, they do match … so er, sure, I did ! 🙂
