This brought back some memories for me. I worked at a cemetery around 20 yrs. ago(Yes, I was a “digger”). There was a section where we buried babies, and it was full of stuffed animals and favorite toys. I can’t tell you how heart wrenching it was for me to work in that section. The grieving parents would lovingly place the toys and Stuffed animals around the headstone, and the elements and time would wreak havoc on them. I never had the heart to remove these things, I don’t know why. I would say the 23rd Psalm to myself whenever I had to work in this section. It seemed to help.

You were a digger? Oh, I’m going to end up having all kinds of questions for you.

That’s so sad, and so grim. Maybe I shouldn’t have posted this. I can say that the cemetery I saw this outside of is the oldest cemetery in Columbus (~200 years old), and I don’t know that there are any children buried in it – many of the first settlers in town (the first sheriff, etc.) are buried there, but not necessarily any children. Which made this a little more random and creepy.

This is a perfect picture for the season. Definitely creepy. I actually have very fond memories of working at the old cemetery. The Baby Section was the only part that would depress me.

Further proof that no matter how cute something is, if you leave it at the cemetery it’s gonna get creepy.

Good, I’m glad it’s not just me and my megrims. 🙂
