Witch’s Kitchen Jars

October 21, 2010

I’ve wanted to make these ever since I found Dave Lowe’s link through the Countdown last year (and then many more after – they’ve become very popular). The skeleton is a direct ripoff of another site’s (and I’ll post the link once my browser quits acting up) because I thought it was extra clever, but it is a little more “mad scientist lab” than “witch’s kitchen.” I am considering using that as an excuse to create some more mad scientist jars as well. These are so much fun to make.

From left to right:

Radioactive Rattlesnakes and Asps (glow in the dark snake toys)
Shrinking Experiment Test Subject Number 3: survived three minutes, 12 seconds (plastic skeleton toy)
Giant Toad Eyeballs (sticky eyeball toys from the Halloween shop)
Salted Bat Tongues (some nasty past-expiration sugared dates)
Skin of Leper (instant potato flakes)
Wolf Spiders steeped in Nightshade and Squid Ink (glow in the dark spider toys)

Next year, there will be mice. I picked them up at Target.

Radio Ad – Suspiria

Fleetwood Mac – Rhiannon

Redbone – Witch Queen of New Orleans

Ella Fitzgerald – Ding Dong the Witch Is Dead
