The Hollies – Long Cool Woman In a Black Dress
As I said in the comments over at Barely Awake‘s, this is the Hollies’ one flirtation with badassery, but I am biased. It was on the spectacular soundtrack for the spectacular TV show Life On Mars (original English flavor), the best television I’ve ever watched. And if you’re reading this, you likely know how I feel about Star Trek.

It’s good to know that LoM has reached you there D – it’s a cracker, isn’t it?
I had ‘Long Cool Woman In A Black Dress’ on some budget Hollies cassette I bought when I was about ten: such ‘badassery’ was slightly baffling then. Er, actually it still is.
Well … Gene and Sam can shine up any old song, and it does make a great driving song, especially in the summer. And yes, that show may be my favorite thing I’ve ever watched. I wondered how many of my English buddies were fans.
