Records!!

November 16, 2011

The below tribute video to vinyl, posted last month to my Tumblr, got me all sad and misty over the loss of my vinyl and desperate to go back to it. (Man, I had a HUGE collection of 45s and LPs.) I could not get my mind off of it, and finally bought a record player last week. It arrived today, so I went up into my closet to dig out the tiny, vestigial amount of records I managed to hold onto. Not many of the ’60s collection left, but a decent amount of the ’80s stuff.

Anyway, I haven’t played a record since … 1992? So to christen this new one, what did I choose? The Beatles, of course. I can’t imagine any other option.

From the album playing above: The Beatles – Twist & Shout (and just wait until I start digitizing what I have! I cannot wait.)

Cool shot (and excellent choice of record)! Records and their jackets were always a more tactile experience than CDs and their chintzy cases. Kind of like a book versus a Kindle, now that I think of it. Always enjoy your postings!

Thank you! And yeah, records always had a warmer, more substantial feeling.

I absolutely love it. Thank you for creating it. Dude, you single-handedly sold a record player and put Space Oddity back on heavy rotation in my head for over a month. šŸ™‚

Recognized a young me in that video – Electric Warrior was my first LP and was played on a record player very like the one in the video.

Congrats to Menno on a GREAT video and thanks for sharing it.

On the slippery vinyl slope again then? You will soon be surrounded by it and wondering where to store it all!

    Love your photos.
