Circleville Pumpkin Show
Circleville, Ohio
How many times have I looked directly at the mural that this is part of and never seen this part of it? Must be dozens. And Saturday, my eyes skidded over this for the first time and then slammed on the brakes with a screeching sound and skidded right back to it.
WHOA. Disturbia.

The poor people of Circleville have to live with him 365 days/year.
So it’s not just me?
It’s not just you. The model is/was probably some civic leader in Circleville, but that portrait is just not right.
I think part of it too is the typography of “The Pumpkin Man.” Makes it look extra eerie.
I’m mildly curious about the roller blades, but really curious about the paper in his hand.
“Hi, just me, Pumpkin Man”…
Why the hell is he on rollerblades, though?!
>“Hi, just me, Pumpkin Man”…
That gave me the giggles.
(I have no idea!)
It looks vaguely like Ronald McDonald, after being downsized and having to take a job as a rollerblading courier. Hey, times are tough.
What on earth it has to do with pumpkins is beyond me, though.
Yeah, I might like an official explanation. Then again, I might not.
