New Lens

December 29, 2011

For Christmas, I got a new lens. It’s this – a Holga lens removed from a Holga and adapted for use with a Canon DSLR. The tiny little pinhole that let in the light was so insanely small that my first test pictures were dark as all get out, even when aimed directly at a light source. I modded it a bit by enlarging the hole and now it’s quite usable.

Holga shots without film. Instant Holga pictures. Oh, this could be a good time.

Thanks, Mom.

I never even would have thought to do something like that. Interesting result! I’m looking forward to seeing more!

Thank you. I am looking forward to playing more with it, but with the lack of sun right now – and you really need a lot of light for these – it’s hard to pull off.

I picked up a pack of Impossible silver shade film for polaroids this week. Also apparently needs scads of light. I can’t wait to start playing with it though. I’m now trying to find an appropriate box to tape to the front of my camera, and waiting for the clouds to clear.

Ooh! I bet whatever you do with that turns out lovely. So intimidating, though; I’d afraid to use it! Especially given that it’s light and temperature sensitive. Will you be posting the results on Flickr?

VERY intimidating, given the expense. I’m carefully mapping out each shot, but I know I’m going to bungle something. As I’m planning on doing the overdone classic movie theaters again, results will actually be blown up, mounted, and posted on my TV room wall. Maybe flickr if the results are anything I want anyone to actually see. First it has to stop raining.

You won’t bungle a thing – I think movie theaters with that film sounds like a great idea.
